Top 3 Feng Shui Bed Location

Every Feng Shui book I've ever read, and even every Feng Shui blog on the internet for that matter, has the same time-worn advice on what the optimum placement is for your bed. Through research and experience with my own clients, I've found that what we've been told is "optimum" is not always the best for our personal intentions. Here are the top 3 principles of bed placement and why they aren't always right for everyone:

1- The bed should not be in front of a window

My client Gina wanted to have a stronger relationship with her partner. She had been living with him for 5 years and still did not have the wedding band her heart desired. When we moved her bed to the location that was in optimum alignment with what she intended, from the Ancestors to the Future Quadrant of her bedroom, it happened to be in front of a window. It was now in an alcove, beautifully framed by the window treatments, and truly honored her relationship desires. Both partners felt the change and are now on their way to a deeper commitment. So, don't let windows get in your way of your true intentions, just make sure to draw the curtains at night.

2- The foot of the bed should not point towards a door

Donna and Dale are a couple that met due to Feng Shui. Because of the architectural features of their bedroom, their bed is on the Future wall and faces a set of French doors. It also happens to be in front of a window! The bed was originally in the Ancestors Quadrant in Donna's room, and two days after she moved it she met Dale. They are now happily married and make sure to draw the curtains at night and close the bedroom doors before going to sleep.

3- The bed should be in the area diagonally opposite the door

This principle can be somewhat vague, and it can lead to a bed placement that isn't in alignment with what you really desire to achieve. This was my case not so long ago, and it's what sparked me to do more research and to publish a book about bedroom Feng Shui.

My bed was also in the Ancestors Quadrant, which was diagonally opposite my bedroom door, just as all the books suggest. Since my desire was to find a partner and have a committed relationship, this quadrant wasn't being very helpful. The energetic alignment it was giving me was to have many friendships or for partnerships to trend towards the past. And that's exactly what was happening! Every potential partner I dated would become a friend, Feng Shui client or fizzle into the past. 3 days after I moved my bed to the Future wall (which was also diagonally opposite my bedroom door), I met a wonderful man that lead me to the relationship I was intending.

I know this may sound somewhat confusing, but the real nugget of truth to the Feng Shui placement of your bed is, that you should first know what your intentions are and then you can decide what quadrant will align you to them. Do you want a relationship in your future? Do you just want to get to know yourself better before you proceed down the relationship path? Are you happy to just have lots of friends and not a solid commitment? Do you just want to have physical connections to partners? Answer these questions and you'll have the right answer to where your bed should be. And remember, you can always just move your bed!

Feng Shui Bedroom Tips - For Better Sleep and More Romance

With the correct feng shui bedroom tips, you will be able to create the ideal room in your home for rest and relaxation, a room you can go to to feel calm and get a good night's sleep. That is the main purpose of the bedroom, to promote sleep. Other than that, it is a room that is most often used to stir up romance between a couple. Knowing this, wouldn't you want to create an environment that fosters the ability for you have improved sleep and more romance in your life? You are able to do just that using simple feng shui techniques.

Bedrooms are meant to create a sense of calm, not make you feel chaotic and anxious. One of the easiest ways for chaos to enter the bedroom is in the form of clutter. If you have an overstuffed bedroom, you need to do a complete overhaul and get rid of anything you don't need or want anymore. There might be other stuff that still has a place in your life, but does not necessarily belong in your bedroom, simply move those out into another part of the home. Clutter not only bogs down your room, it also reflects in your life the same way, reeking havoc and turning into a huge burden. You will notice a feeling of letting go as soon as you free yourself from all the clutter.

The next thing you need to do is remove the things that do not belong in the bedroom which include a desk, electronic devices and exercise equipment. The reason these things have no place in the bedroom is because they all act as huge distractions, making it harder for anyone to get a good night's sleep. The desk is used for work, therefore having a desk or any other work related items inside of the bedroom will make you think about work when you are not working. Electronic devices not only keeps you from sleeping, they draw out the bad 'qi' or energy of the room and drain you of your own energy. If it's not possible to move them out of the bedroom, at least cover them at night while you are sleeping. Exercise equipment is another huge distraction that causes restlessness. Many people who do not have enough room in their home will put the exercise equipment in their bedroom. Exercise is a very strenuous activity and having the equipment in a room that is supposed to be calm and relaxing will only make you more agitated.

Colors are a good way to help the bedroom serve its purpose. Never use loud colors on the walls of the bedroom as that will make it even harder for you to sleep. Calm, muted colors work best here. Lighting is another important factor for setting the right mood. A bedroom should have dim lights, so switch out the bright bulb for one that has a lower voltage, install a dimmer switch or replace the light bulbs altogether with candles. All of the secondary factors have been covered, but the primary factor remains, the placement of the bed. The bed is the most important feature of a bedroom and where that piece of furniture is placed is one of the most important feng shui bedroom tips. It must be at a commanding position with the headboard against a wall and located diagonally across from the entrance. You must be able to see the door when you are on your bed. Positions that are absolutely detrimental include facing the door, in line with the door, against a corner, and having the headboard against a window. Avoid these positions and you are off to a good start.

If you are looking to attract love or maintain a healthy relationship with someone you are currently involved with, the bedroom is the best place to make that happen. Romance is typically stirred up in the bedroom, therefore it must become a fitting environment for romance. To help with that, make good use of the bedroom's love corner, which can be located with the help of a bagua map. Add more pink in that area, display items that come in pairs and other decorative objects that makes you think of love. Have two nightstands by your bed, one on each side to reflect the coming together of two people. These and other helpful feng shui remedies can be used throughout the bedroom to fuel your love life.
